QR codes make shopping from a subway billboard possible

QR codes are becoming extremely popular in the UK. Many may think we are a nation on the cusp of new mobile technology but the truth is the UK have not yet started to use QR code apps for their mobiles as much as Japan, Korea and the US to name a few.

Tesco have embraced the QR code and taken it one step further by combining online shopping with mobile code recognition technology as part of their marketing plan in Korea. Busy workers using the subway on their way home can now shop from Billboards in the stations.

How does it work? well Tesco, due to a lack of space to position stores, have used a genius creative plan to bring the store to the people rather than encouraging people to the store. Billboards at the station are designed to look like Tesco shelves where you can pick your favourite products by taking a picture of the item. Your phone then takes you to the online checkout where you will make a request for delivery. Each item is recognised by its own QR code.

This is such a development for mobile technology and for busy shoppers.
